DJ FASMWA is a passionate and talented international Soca DJ and events promoter, based in Sydney, Australia . His primary objectives are to expose Caribbean music and culture to new audiences and to offer all audiences the highest quality in DJ-ing and events.As a Soca DJ, he has performed internationally, at events across the Caribbean, Central and South America and Asia-pacific. DJ FASMWA has played at events such as; J’ouvert in Trinidad Carnival with the band “Mas Jumbies” , at the Gyptian concert in Sydney, with the Road Vibes carnival band in Australia, at Soca vs Dancehall in Costa Rica, and Club Starzz in Suriname. Nationally, DJ FASMWA is known around Australia as the premiere Caribbean DJ, playing at events around the country.
Coming from the Dutch Caribbean, DJ FASMWA’s biggest love has always been, and still is, Caribbean music. Through his organisation, FASMWA entertainment, and close ties with the international media house SpinDMusic, DJ FASMWA has played an integral role in the development of Caribbean music, and more specifically Soca, across his current home base Australia.
DJ FASMWA also currently runs a weekly radio show “Midweek Mojo” on the number one global source for Soca music, QZradioHD, based out of NYC. Through these international connections, DJ FASMWA is able to promote the events he is contracted to perform at. Announcing events through these avenues assists promoters to reach a global audience, particularly the North America and European markets.
A versatile DJ, DJ FASMWA can also cater to various Caribbean audiences through his knowledge of other music styles such as zouk, reggae, dancehall and salsa to name a few.
HISTORY
In 2005, DJ Fasmwa joined SPIN D MUSIC as a integral member of the promotions and also as a DJ. His musical influences were formed in an energetic Dutch Caribbean community in Amsterdam. After some early tinkling of the ivories, DJ Fasmwa was particularly inspired by soca, reggae, kasesko, kawina and hip hop, and as an up and coming DJ of the new school he melds these with zouk, salsa, soul and RnB.
DJ FASMWA has since played along side Australia's top DJs and played in various location in Australia and also in his beloved Caribbean.
